Semolina upma

 ( Rava upma)

Ingredients

  • Semolina flour (coarse)-1 cup

  • Olive oil-4 to 5 tbsp

  • Ghee-1 tsp(optional)

  • Onion-1

  • Ginger-1 to 2 tsp

  • Peanuts-20g or cashew nuts

  • Water-2 cups

  • Salt-1tsp

  • Mustard seeds-1tsp

  • Cumin seeds-1tsp

  • Chana dal-1tsp

  • Dry red chilli-2

  • Turmeric powder-half a tsp

  • Curry leaves-2 stems

  • Green chilli-2 or chilli paste-1 tsp

  • Black pepper-1tsp

  • Coriander-2 stems for garish

  • Lime-one​

Method;

1, wash and chop the onion into small pieces ,grate the fresh ginger piece ,chop the coriander .keep them ready on side. 
2, Heat a sauce pan with medium flame, add ghee (optional )and lightly fry semolina for 5 to 10 minutes until raw smell goes from the semolina. Then, keep it on the side in a bowl.
 3, Now add oil to the same pan, add in curry leaves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Chana daal, green chillies peanuts, small diced onions, grated ginger paste and mix well. fry for 10 minutes until peanuts looks  bit brown in colour.
4,Add in warm water to the mix and squeeze one lime  juice. keep the lid on let the water boil till 15 minutes. After 15 minutes take the lid off.
5,Now Add in fried semolina slowly bit by bit mixing very fast so it doesn't get lumpy. Mix until all the                          water is as been adsorb into the semolina .
6,Switch of the flame ,Garnish with coriander ,curry leaves drizzle some hot sriracha sauce and yogurt sauce on top and enjoy with tomato pachadi or peanut pachadi on side with your loving family or friends it will taste delicious.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         
                                                                                                                                                                                 

Upma is a very healthy breakfast or we call it tiffin in south India. we usually have it in the morning. I always make it on Thursday and offer to god sai baba first as a prasadam .My family love upma its very quick, simple, healthy and easy to make. Your family will love it to.
