Tomato Chutney

(Tomato Pachadi)

  •  Plum tomatoes-250 grams or three big plum tomatoes
  • Onions-2 medium size
  • Coriander -1 stem to garnish
  • Garlic-3 pieces
  • Olive oil-2 tsp 0r sunflower oil
  • Dry red chillies-4
  • Chana lentils -2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-half a tsp
  • Cumin seeds-half a tsp
  • Curry leaves-one stem
  • Turmeric powder-1 tsp
  • Salt-1 tsp
  • Hing(asafoetida)
  • Tamarind -small am0unt
  • Black pepper -1 tsp

Method:

Now we going to add tempered to lift the flavour into next level. Talimpu in (Telugu) to give wow taste to our tomato pachadi.
  1. Heat a medium size frying pan with low flame .Add in oil once the oil ready .
  2. Add in cumin seeds ,chana lentils,dry red chilli, chopped onion, garlic cloves,fry for 10 mintues until the raw smell goes from onions.
  3. Now add in turmeric, salt to taste,hing ,tamarind ,black pepper powder mix well
  4. Mix well cook until the water has been evaporate fully from tamotoes. Switch of the flame .add in coriender leaves .let the mixture cool down.
  5. Once the tomatoes mix cool down blend tomatoes into smooth paste take it into a serving bowl .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                
  6. Heat a small pan with one tsp of oil. Once the oil is heated add in few mustard seeds ,curry leaves always add by tearing the leaves to release the aroma ,few cumin seeds,few small garlic or chopped garlic mix all together well .switch of the flame 
  7. Now add the mix into blended tomato and mix well .
  8. Take it into serving bowl garnish with few fried curry leaves and enjoy.
  9.  It can keep in fridge two to three days .you can also use it like a healthy spread .we in south India have it with lots of tiffin(breakfast) like dosa ,ldli ,upma, rava dosa etc.it will be looking beautiful orange in colour.
Tomato chutney in south Indian telugu lauguage we call it (Pachadi)its very simple to make .you can enjoy this authentic pachadi with plan hot rice with adding few drops of fresh ghee it will taste amazing or you can use it like healthy spread, goes really well with lots of dishes.
