Traditional South Indian Idli
Ingredients:

Urid Daal-1 cup

Idli Rava-2 and 1/2 cups

Salt-1 tsp
-
Sunflower oil-3 tbsp
-
please keep idli steamer ready .
Serves: 2 to 3 adult's
Method:

Wash and soak -1 cup urid daal(white lentils') in 4 to 5 cups of water for at least 5 to 6 hours are best overnight

In Separate bowl wash and soak idli rava-2 and a half cup for 3 to 4 hours or best overnight .

Add one tsp of salt to urid daal while soaking .

Next day remove the water from urid daal and grind it into smooth paste by adding little water if you need to .

Remove the smooth urid daal into a bowl .Now add the idli rava with your hands by squeezing the water add into the batter and mix well with hands to combine both together well and keep it to a good fermentation in warm room for 6 to 8 hours minimum to get perfect homemade idli.

Next day check the batter by mixing well now its ready to make idli.

Bring the idli steamer remover the plate .Fill up the steamer with water that you need by your steamer instruction's switch on the flame on to medium till the water start to boil .

Now spread some oil on to the idli plates .Add one scoop of idli batter in each idli mould tray. Once you complete all of them .Slowly put the trays onto the stand and taking good care please put it in the steamer and put the lid on for 20 to 25 minute's switch it off let it rest without opening the lid.

Slowly open the lid after resting check the idli are fully cooked and remove them into the serving bowl have it with hot hot traditional south Indian homemade sambar simply healthy and delicious to enjoy with your family or friends .Add a touch of ghee to the sambar or on top of idli optional gives you a authentic taste .
Idli are original traditional recipe from south India Andhra Pradesh .Very healthy so good for you even if you want to have everyday .Delicious if you have it with homemade south Indian sambar that's classic combination at our home by adding a drop of ghee (optional)
