potato curry or kurma with coconut milk

Ingredients

Potatoes-500 grams or paneer-226 grams or carrots -3 medium size or any of your choice meat small pack(you can make this curry dry to have with dosa, rice or more delicious by adding one cane of coconut milk and tomato)taste yummy to have with parathas, chapatis, poori

Curry leaves-2 stems

olive oil-4 tbsp

Garlic cloves-2 chopped into small pieces

Mustard seeds-1 tsp

Cumin seeds-1 tsp

Chana dal-1 tsp

Turmeric powder-1 tsp

Chopped onion-2
-
Chopped plum tomatoes or any tomatoes -250grams

Ginger and garlic paste-1tsp

Salt-1 tsp

Chilli powder-1 tsp

Coconut milk-200ml
-
Garam masala-1 tsp
-
Coriander powder-1 tsp
-
Coriander leaves-2 stems to garnish

Method;
-
Boil the potatoes in water with medium flame about 30 minutes .If you are using paneer chop the pieces into medium size same with carrots and meat if you are making alterative to potatoes. Check the boiling potatoes are fully cooked. switch of the flame .once the potatoes are cool peel them and keep them on side.

Cut the potatoes into medium sized. chop the onions into small pieces keep it on side.

Now heat the deep size pan with olive oil in medium flame.. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds ,chana dal and curry leaves. Leave for a minute until sizzling.

Add the onion, tomato and ginger and garlic paste. Fry them until they are cooked and soft.

Then add in the potato, salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala mix well .

Put the lid on and leave to cook for 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove the lid mix all together .Now add in coconut milk mix well .let it cook for 10 more minutes until the coconut milk been evaporate into the potatoes and you are getting the wonderful aroma of coconut .switch of the flame .garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
