RawMango Daal

(Mamidikaya Pappu)

Ingredients

  • Toor Daal-1 cup
  • Raw Mangoes-2 medium size
  • Tomatoes-3 small once
  • Onion-1 small
  • Olive oil-3 tbsp
  • Ghee-1 tsp
  • Garlic cloves-2
  • Green chillies-2
  • Curry leaves-10 leaves
  • Salt -1 tsp
  • Chilli powder-1 tsp
  • Turmeric-1 tsp
  • Asafoetda powder-half tsp(eguva)
  • Chana daal-1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-half a tsp
  • Cumin seeds-half a tsp
  • coriander -2 stems for garnish

Method;
  1. cook the toor daal in with water for 45 minutes in sauce pan until daal fully cooked in medium heat.
  2. peel the mango skin cut into small cubes.
  3. once the daal is fully  cooked.
  4. add mango pieces, chopped tomatoes, green chillies, turmeric, chilli power mix well.
  5. keep the gas on low heat.
  6. In a different small pan keeping the heat in medium. add oil and ghee once its heated .
  7. add cumin, mustard, chana daal, curry leaves, garlic, onion, asafoetda power ,fry all nicely until they all give you amazing aroma in your kitchen switch off the heat.
  8. south Indian traditional mango pappu is ready to enjoy with your family.

Mango pappu is one of most authentic dish in south India homes.my hubby seenu, both my children like it so much with hot hot sona masoor plain rice with touch of ghee(must specially for my lovely son (lakshman)
